How to Consign with Junk & Java
What is consignment?
Consignment is - you provide the furnishings, we provide the store. We share the profits. When sold, you receive 50% of the final selling price. Our professional store environment saves you from spending your time showing items and/or opening your home to strangers!
What kind of items does Junk & Java accept?
We love unique chairs, tables, lamps, rugs, lighting, art, mirrors, accessories, and general home decor. Due to limited space, we can take only 1-2 sofas at a time. Furniture pieces need to be gently used, clean and free of rips, tears, stains, smells and pet hair.
We also accept everyday home needs such as cooking pots, mixing bowls, like-new towels & bed linens, tableware, and small appliances such as mixers & blenders if space allows. All such items need to be in clean, gently used condition, similar to what you would want to buy.
We do not handle baby furniture, large appliances, TVs, or most electronics.
We also accept women’s plus size clothing, freshly laundered, pressed, and on hangers – sweaters may be folded.
We are looking for your better quality & designer clothing: casual wear, professional attire, formal wear, coats, and purses.
We take a very limited amount of jewelry.
How do I know if my pieces are right for Junk & Java?
We are looking for attractive pieces that would fit in any home – items that you’re are no longer using or no longer fit your décor but are clean and desirable.
We highly recommend a visit to our shop to get a feel for the type of items we carry. Larger furniture piece(s) must be approved. This is very easy! You may bring in a picture or email a photo of your proposed piece(s) to us at: [email protected] for an online evaluation.
We accept up to 20 general household or clothing items by appt. each Wed & Thr, 12 noon-4p.
New consignors will have a brief contract to look over, complete, and sign.
How do I get paid?
Items are accepted for consignment for a period of 90 days. After your piece(s) sells, you will receive half of the final sale price. Checks are sent monthly.
What if my piece does not sell?
Prices are determined by our experienced staff. Most of our accepted pieces sell within 3 months. Consigned pieces will be marked down monthly. However, if your item does not sell after several months you may choose to pick it up.
